History
Telepo was founded in 2004 by a senior team of leaders and industry experts in both the mobile and IP industries. The founders have an excellent track record both in the mobile and IP telecommunications area and were instrumental in the development of Voice over IP and SIP. The team and the board of directors include senior cross-industry experts and leaders, which will further enable Telepo to leverage its business and technical competence and network. Telepo's headquarter is based in Stockholm, Sweden.
The product has evolved over time based on input as result of close cooperation with customers.
The first generation of the product was a unique least cost routing platform for enterprises designed to bring in the mobile voice calls to the corporate network. This version was developed based on enterprise requirements from Nokia and deployed globally within the internal Nokia IT infrastructure for use by Nokia employees worldwide.
The second generation utilized the mobile phone integration present in the product and took a step towards adding additional benefits for enterprise users in addition to cost savings. This version enabled the mobile phone to be used in conjunction with an existing enterprise PBX and offered PBX functions to mobile phones. Telepo deployed this version successfully in conjunction with Cisco Callmanager IP-PBXes with customers such as Scania and the Dutch flower auction in Aalsmeer.
The third generation of the product includes the PBX functions togheter with a complete set of Unified Communication functions, keeping the mobile heritage as an edge. The PBX function set was a result of a cooperation with Ericsson Enterprise where Telepo was asked to provide the software for their next generation IP-PBX platform for small and medium size enterprises. Telepo also added support for hosting Telepo services for the service provider segment.
Telepo Name
The name Telepo is derived from Teleporting, which is the process of moving objects and information, such as signals, from one place to another and creating a copy of the original object in the new location.
